   Best View in Johannesburg
We had an absolutely amazing 5-night stay at Over the Moon in Northcliff! The views over the Johannesburg skyline are simply unbeatable, and starting every morning with a delicious breakfast overlooking the city was a real highlight. Brian and his team are truly delightful, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Their hospitality, attention to detail and warm approach made the entire experience extra special. Without a doubt, one of the best views in Johannesburg and a guesthouse we would happily return to time and time again. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

   Friendship and food for the soul amidst the chaos.
We spent 3 nights at Over the Moon Guesthouse. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome and cared for. Our double room was luxurious with all the amenities we could wish for and the view from the balcony is breathtaking. I was surprised by the abundant birdlife and the quiet tranquility of this little haven nestled the chaos of Johannesburg. The guesthouse is conveniently situated very close to the Joburg eye hospital and surrounded by the surgeries of top medical professionals. Christine and Nickie showered us with kindness and compassion and made us feel part of their family. We will definitely be back.

INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!

Christine is an amazing host and Over the Moon fails to disappoint us. We first stayed there in 2017 and did not hesitate to return. The breakfasts are excellent and the location is ideal with the views. It is safe, clean and very well managed. Will be back again.

☺ I had a wonderful 4-night stay at Over The Moon Guesthouse. The staff were welcoming, the room was very clean and comfortable, and the location felt calm and safe.    What a fantastic place to land after a long flight.
Christine provides such a warm and friendly magical place to stay in Johannesburg. This was the second time I stayed at Over The Moon, both times were wonderful. She is such an awesome person which is reflected in the place itself but also in her staff. By all means, stay here, you will be Over The Moon with gratitude!    I've stayed with Christine twice, and I'll certainly be staying there again. OTMG is very clean, quiet, comfortable and secure.  Breakfasts - cooked to order - are superb, and the view beats almost any restaurant.  For me, proximity to a friend's Northcliff home was the initial appeal.

Christine is a marvelous hostess. Furthermore, she has been most helpful recommending things to see and do, suggesting restaurants, and arranging transportation to and from Oliver Tambo.

Our stay in the „Over the moon guest house“ was exeptional in many ways. A very large room and also balcony everything nicely decorated as the owner Christine is an artist. Over the past three years, we have often stayed at "Over the Moon" guest house. The hospitality is outstanding, and Christine always makes us feel right at home. We even have 'our room', which is always spotless, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything we need. We especially appreciate the attention to detail, from the cosy decor to the little extras that always make our stay so enjoyable. The location is perfect for us. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful and relaxing, yet close to everything. Breakfast is delicious, with a great variety of fresh and tasty options.    The stay was comfortable and convenient, the property is homely and has a great ambience.
My family stayed at Over the Moon Guesthouse for one night in mid-August 2024. It was a good and comfortable stay and Christine was hospitable and kind enough to assist us with a late check-in given that we had driven up from Durban and our GPS unfortunately took us through a few roads through the CBD (or too close to it) instead of the quickest route. The location is not the best in Johannesburg as compared to the likes of Rosebank and Fourways, but it has a different offering and the views on Northcliff hill are some of the best in the city.

☺ The swimming pool is the greatest hotspot. The area is surrounded by lots of trees, and the rooms have a nice balcony with a great view of Nature and Johannesburg's surroundings. They offer an interpersonal experience. One gets to receive messages directly from the owner of the guesthouse. They cater to one's needs and wants. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

If I could rate Over The Moon a 10 I would! Luxuriously furnished large room and bathroom with beautiful views of the Johannesburg skyline. Lush gardens and great outdoor space. Yummy breakfast. Christine is the perfect hostess, we had a late arrival and very early departure and she welcomed us and seen us leave with the biggest smile.    Excellent stay in Over the Moon JHB
I went for several days for business trip. Very quiet and safe place, no noice from traffic at all.. you can hear the birds. A pleasure to sleep with the windows opened. The view is just amazing . The room has a large terrace to enjoy view while relaxing or working. Great place to see the sunset and have a different perspective of the city (full of trees) House and room are extremely clean. Nice place, very comfortable. Good quality furnitures/bed. Bathrooms was super clean, big and bright. The owner really took good care of me and did everything so I could feel home. Also finding places for dinner and lunch Good breakfast. good wifi. Fully recommend Over the moon guesthouse

We have been lucky enough to stay at Over the Moon on many occasions, over many years, and without exception, each experience has been truly memorable.

The views, birdlife, and tranquillity alone marks OTM as in the very highest category, which, when combined with a level of customer care that is off the scale, combines to make an experience many notched above the norm.

We are lucky; we travel a great deal and experience luxury lodges, hotels around the World - OTM is right up there with the very finest - a true gem.

   Where else would you ever want to stay?
The first thing that takes your breath away, is the stunning view, looking out to the Magaliesberg Mountains, over the green, northern suburbs. Framed by trees and foliage that are rich in birdlife - just watching the purple-crested turaco, in that flash of their russet-red undersides - flit from tree to tree is truly amazing. A haven of calm and peace, itself a real treat in our modern, hectic World, marks Over the Moon as well above the average, and wonderfully warm welcome from all the staff, led by Christine, is simply superb. Rooms first class, and very spacious cater for every need and creature comfort and the breakfasts, freshly made to order, are of the same outstanding level. We are lucky, we get to travel far, wide and often, both within South Africa and beyond - on any measure Over the Moon is truly exceptional.

   As good as it gets
We spend 2 night at this gorgeous guesthouse in July 2023 and had an amazing stay. The views are breathtaking, the accommodation spacious and very well maintained, and the breakfast is perfect. Not to mention the magical garden. Christine is the perfect hostess that seemingly walks an extra mile to make your wishes come true.    Exceptional comfort and perfect location!
Over the Moon has views of the Johannesburg, Rosebank and Sandton skylines which are unparralelled. Christine's attention to detail is evident in every feature of this upmarket location. Comfort and style are inherent in every detail and Christine's personal touch makes you feel truly welcome.    Great rooms and excellent service
My stay in this guesthouse was exceptional. I was in town for a work trip, and it was refreshing to be surrounded by the beautiful garden. My room was spacious and very comfortable. Though South Africa is facing an energy crisis, I didn't feel the constant power cuts while staying at Over The Moon, since they have solar panels. The staff is impeccable.    Wonderful hillside views in modern guesthouse outside Johannesburg
The owner Brian was very welcoming and took excellent care of us. We felt like we were guests in their own home. The building and rooms are modern, super clean and comfortable. We needed to adjust some things with our room reservations which he accommodated graciously. They prepared a lovely breakfast for us each day and even served earlier to accommodate our schedule. The location was beautiful with terrific views of the city and large balconies to relax after a long trip. We will certainly be back again.

   I had the great pleasure of spending two nights at Over the Moon while attending my sister's wedding. Brian and the whole staff were such great hosts, making me feel welcomed and provided such a great experience. I highly recommend staying with them.

   Fabulous guesthouse with amazing views
Our visit to Johannesburg this time round was. sad one, my father having passed away, but Christine and Brian were wonderful, caring hosts who couldn’t do enough to make our trip better. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the views from the rooms are stunning! Good breakfast, attentive staff and flexible departure. We have already started to plan to go back and will be staying there again in February 2024.

   Absolute best guesthouse experience ever!
On arrival at the guesthouse we literally gawked at the size and luxury of the bedroom and en-suite bathroom, not to mention the gorgeous view from our own balcony. Our 4 night stay was just a wonderful experience from the word go - thank you Christine for seeing that we are safe and sound every evening before you retired for the day and please convey our appreciation to your diningroom staff for the delicious breakfasts every morning!

   Great stay at Over The Moon Guesthouse
Great guesthouse with an awesome host, Brian. The manager, Charmaine was so helpful during my stay and with the collection of my remote and room keys when I left. Clean and very neat. Spacious room with a huge bathroom and walk-in shower. The most incredible view of Johannesburg - it was an experience to watch a thunderstorm performance on Thursday evening. My mother had come from out of country for an eye op. Christine was absolutely amazing in assisting us during our stay. She helped out all with all the logistics at the drop of a hat as well as advice on where to get things done! Many a five star hotel definitely cannot match her ability. Over the Moon has a homely, friendly, and peaceful atmosphere while providing all the convenience and comfort you need when traveling. The rooms are extremely spacious with superb views of the Joburg skyline from the balconies, especially during Jacaranda time. The beautiful, spacious garden and large swimming pool offer a wonderful space to relax in, take a stroll or go for a refreshing swim - hard to believe you're in the middle of a city! The host, Christine, takes care of all your needs in a way that makes you feel at home right away. The facility runs on solar energy, so no load-shedding woes. My sister and I were welcomed in a friendly and professional manner by Christine who is a wonderful and caring hostess. Rooms were spotless and the fruit on the desk as well as flowers on the bed were a classy touch. The view from the house is spectacular. Breakfasts were 5 star and Christine cooked us a simple but gourmet meal at short notice on our first night there as we were only able to get a rental car the next day. Christine and her team were fantastic, the kindness shown as the trip to Johannesburg was not for a happy reason was much appreciated. Attention to detail and cleanliness were noted and that the room and the view in real life were as on the photographs, was a first for me. And I travel a lot.    Excellent Stay, perfect to feel at home while on business trip
It was wonderful to stay here for a couple days. Christine made me feel welcome and everything was really nicely done. Really confortable, clean, excellent breakfast and diner at night. Over the Moon is the best Guesthouse that I ever visit. The staff it's very efficient, and Christine, the manager, is the friendliest and kindest person that I' ve ever met !! The breakfast it's very healthy, and the bedrooms are so confortable as you can imagine. If you get up early, don't miss the sunset in your own balcony.    Exceeded our expectations!
As a first time traveller to South Africa, I was completely taken aback by how beautiful this guesthouse is! The property is well located and close enough to restaurants, stores and golf courses. The house and garden are incredibly beautiful and well maintained - and the views are spectacular! I can definitely recommend this guesthouse if you're looking for a place to relax and have some time out. The hosts, Brian and Christine, as well as all the staff were very welcoming and made us feel like we were at home. We stayed in the Sandton Luxury suite and all I can say is "Wow!" - it is most certainly better than any hotel room I've stayed in! The room is quite large and it leads to it's own private balcony, with those amazing views, so we most definitely did not feel cramped. The bathroom is extremely nice and the suite, as a whole, is spotless. The bed was very comfortable and one can see that the bed linen is high quality, so, we slept very well. The breakfast is delicious - and enjoying it while sitting on the patio, was a great way to start to our day. Overall, staying here completely exceeded our expectations and was incredibly great value for money! Next time we visit South Africa (for business or vacation) we will for sure stay here again!

I enjoyed a wonderful 3 day stay at Over the Moon which is set in beautiful tranquil surroundings offering breathtaking views. The accommodation is fabulous and offers every comfort- the rooms are large and luxurious and the food is of an excellent quality.    Perfekter Start in den Urlaub
Wir haben für zwei Nächte eine Unterkunft in Joburg gesucht und das Over the Moon ausgewählt. Am Flughafen wurden wir abgeholt. Das war günstiger als ein Taxi oder Uber. Die Aussicht ist überragend, die Zimmer sind sehr geräumig und klasse ausgestattet. Der Service ist perfekt. Im Blumengarten am Pool kann man herrlich entspannen. This guesthouse has been one of the best surprises, as far as guesthouses are concerned in Johannesburg. The owner and hostess goes the extra mile, to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Elfreda and Brian are the quintessential hosts at a bed a breakfast that is their pride and joy. Its a fabulous place to stay and relax with the gardens, pool and amazing views all at your fingertips. If you are visiting Johannesburg this is a must stay location that will serve you well and allow you to feel relaxed and at home. Mingle in the living area and have a drink with them at your leisure. My stay at Over the Moon was too short, could have stayed a lot longer. The facilities and decor of Over the Moon are exceptional. The view from the terrace is spectacular, but more important is that Elfreda and her husband and staff make you feel like your an old friend visiting rather than just a guest in their home. Dinner is available on request and the meal can compete with any fine dinning in the area. It is located is a safe residential area and a car would be useful but taxi service is available to take you anywhere in the area. For me and many others it is the only place to stay while on holiday or business in Johannesburg.

   Always enjoy my stay at Over The Moon Guesthouse
It is always great to stay at "Over The Moon Guesthouse" in NorthCliff, Johannesburg South Africa; and this time in August 2016 wasn't different. And the Owners are always welcoming, Elfreda, her husband, and I should add the personnel. The view at Over The Moon is really soothing, relaxing, enjoyable, and yes addictive. I will recommend the guesthouse to anyone who would love to visit Johannesburg. It is clean and safe. My favorite room is the "Sandton Executive Suite". Thanks again!

   Perfect place to stay in Johannesburg
This is the perfect place to stay when visiting Johannesburg. It is nice, quite, large rooms, perfect breakfast, secure parking..., all you need is there. You also have a large terrace on your room. Definitely worth 5*

   Feels like home
AMAZING breakfast (ask for any omelet or scrambled eggs). Elfreda's attention is unreal. She even took us to the restaurant and picked us up afterwards! Great, quiet neighborhood, and the obviously amazing view from the room balcony.

   Friendly guesthouse with spectacular view
I have just spent the last three nights at this guesthouse in Northcliff. It offers beautiful spacious rooms with the most spectacular view. A view that can be enjoyed from your own balcony. Both the hosting couple and the staff are friendly, nice and will go out of their way to make you happy. Lovely breakfast that will be enjoyed on the terrace when the weather allows. Over the Moon was exceptional in service and quality! I would highly recommend it! the rooms are very comfortable, the views are magnificent and the staff is very helpful. The location is close to shopping and main freeways. We used Uber to get around while there and it worked great!

   Stunning guest house - the best in Johannesburg
A stunning location, clinging to the side of the ridge, with amazing views of the CBD, Rosebank and Sandton from the balconies and breakfast terrace. The location makes it very convenient whether you're driving your own car or using Uber (which is a fantastic way to get round Johannesburg if you don't want to hire a car). Huge, spotlessly clean room with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and lawns. Massive bed, crisp cotton sheets. Big ensuite bathroom with an excellent shower. Our room had air-conditioning - put it on the "sleep" setting to make it quiet overnight. We had breakfast on the terrace every morning - full English, French toast, or just yoghurt and fruit: you choose. And the nicest coffee I've had in any South African guesthouse! If you stay here take some time to wander through the magnificent grounds down to the vegetable garden at the foot of the slope, where Elfreda grows pumpkins and watermelons. Fast wifi, an amazing swimming pool. Friendly staff (thank you, Wilson and Priscilla, for helping to make our stay so delightful).

We ran a guesthouse in the Caribbean, and have travelled widely, this is one of the best we have stayed in.Room very comfortable with everything required.Alfreda and staff could not do enough to make our stay memorable.The meals gave us a taste of .Africa.We can definitely recommend this gesthouse for comfort, safety,and a great holiday.

   Wonderful Guest House with exceptional hospitality
We were originally planning on staying in Sandton, however wanted to see this guesthouse which had 9.9 in their reviews. I never write reviews, however this place was 'exceptional'. From the start to the end of the stay Elfreda and Brian made us totally welcomed in their beautiful house. The garden was stunning as were the views from the veranda, the room and bathroom were so spacious. The freshly prepared breakfast was superb. Highly recommended ........ Stay at the Over The Moon Guesthouse was the best choice I had this past December 10 2015 for 3 nights. From the management to the personnel, it was the best service. Thanks Elfreda, her husband and again the personnel. The View at Over the Moon Guesthouse is one of the best. The room are cleaned, the toilet (bathroom) are cleaned, Overall very cleaned lace to stay. You should try at least, because my words alone won't describe my stay. I enjoyed the breakfast, try the omelette :) People that came to visit me were overtaken by the room and by the view. Thanks and will be back! Best choice! Mudila K.

I stayed with a colleague of mine at Over The Moon Guesthouse for a couple of days. The owners of the guesthouse are lovely people and they welcomed us as soon as we parked. My colleague booked a suite I booked a room without the view but since there were no other guests they gave me the suite as well for no extra money. The view from their huge terrace is breathless, prove to believe it. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. I recommend this guesthouse for sure.

Very quiet and very helpful. Be sure that I will come back in this guesthouse for next visit at Johannesburg and I recommend for all people to come. One advice when you come be sure to order the guesthouse a driver to pick up from Airport because taxi driver will ask you a very expensive fare to guesthouse .

   fabulous guest house with a spectacular view
We stayed for two nights and had a great time in Johannesburg. After a night flight the room was ready for us very early, tea and coffee were provided, room is wide, bright and very clean and has a spectacular view over the green Johannesburg to Johannesburg downtown skyline and to Sandton. Breakfast is very good and at our second evening we decided to have dinner - the Bobotie was baie lekker. Elfreda gave good advice what to do in and around Jo-burg. Two days are definately too short - next time we stay longer. Thanks to the owners, the staff and the taxi drivers who all made our stay perfect.

   Home away from home
I have spent 7 weeks in South Africa this year. I was working and required steady comfortable accommodations. What I found was truly a home away. Elfreda and Brian are the proprietors. They are exceptional hosts and now friends. The accommodations are exceptional. Modern, comfortable, with spectacular views of the city. The food is a wonderful combination of contemporary fare combined with some local classics. You will not finds a better place to stay.

Dieses Guesthouse kann nur jedem empfohlen werden, der Jo'burg besuchen und nicht unbedingt im Zentrum unterkommen möchten. In die Stadt sind es ca. 15 Minuten mit dem Auto. In der Nähe gibt es allerdings auch Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants, etc. Der Golfplatz (Buchung hat Elfreda (Gastgeberin) übernommen) ist ebenfalls toll. Der Ausblick vom Balkon ist der Wahnsinn, vor allem bei Sonnenaufgang und abends.

   it´s not just a Guesthouse - it´s a unique experience
From the first minute, I felt at home. Elfreda and Brian are fantastic hosts and really make everything (!!!) that you feel very comfortable. You can tell that this hospitality is not just a business !! The rooms are very spacious and luxuriously furnished . The view of the room to the slope is breathtaking.    Home away from home...
This guesthouse is absolutely stunning.From the moment you drive in, you will be captivated with the amazing views of Johannesburg. The hospitality experienced was great, it gave a homely feel yet I had my privacy. Over the Moon is definitely one of a kind. The rooms are stylish and the beds are very comfortable. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxing, whether sitting by the pool or on my private balcony! The location is great! Close to malls, restaurants and other places of interest. This place is pure magic! What a view, what a place, unbelievable food and service. Every finish is perfect, the decor and style is to die for! Probably the most beautiful kitchen I have ever seen. Rooms are massive and the bathrooms sulbime! Highly recommended!

   All the comforts of home with stunning views!
I stayed here with family when we where in SA for a wedding and it was absolutely beautiful, the rooms, the views everything was 5 star. The whole house was very clean and I have never felt more welcome. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone whether it be a relaxing vacation or business travel.    Perfect for any globe trotter and business traveler!
As a frequent business traveller and globe trotter, I have stayed in many hotels and guest houses. This hidden gem outshines all my past experiences when it comes to first class service, superb hosts, beautiful rooms, and great food with a wonderful outdoor dining area. I highly recommend this boutique guesthouse! This stunning property is in a great location with breath taking views overlooking the whole of Johannesburg, Sandton and we were even convinced that we could see the Voortrekker monument in centurion… The hosts, Brian and Elfreda, are extremely welcoming and made sure we were comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and all room amenities were replenished daily. Not to mention the stocked mini bar upon arrival was all complimentary – I have never encountered that! The suites were very modern and spacious with en-suite bathrooms, complete with everything you need in order to have a most relaxing stay. Sleep is a fundamental need that I absolutely require on my business trips. The comfortable beds at this B&B along with the quiet location surely consummated my anticipations. The modern décor included beautiful paintings that complimented the aesthetics of the guest house and natural beauty that surrounded the exterior. The personal touch that was added to everything made our stay so superb! My husband and I had such a great stay in December last year, that we brought our family from Canada to stay there with us on our next visit to South Africa.    Home away from home - comfort backed by stunning views!
My Canadian family and I had the pleasure of staying in this gem, perched pleasantly on the side of the Northcliff Hill. The accommodation boasts picturesque views of the surrounding area through floor-to-ceiling windows that are located throughout the house. A large patio, well equipped with lounge chairs and umbrellas, overlooked the pool and garden creating the perfect atmosphere for both personal relaxation or social gatherings. As soon as you walk through the doors of this B&B my family and I were greeted with such delight. Brian and Elfreda are exceptional hosts who provided a great service while also ensuring our privacy was not disrupted. The food was amazing during our stay and was the exact definition of a great "home cooked meal". The rooms were very spacious, each having their own walk-in closet, and ensuite bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable and the in-room A/C unit allowed for a cool night sleep to offset the warm South African temperatures outside. The rooms had a fully stocked mini-bar, and the views from all room balconies were just as pleasurable as the views from the lounge. The internet signal was strong throughout the whole guest house. Another thing we were very pleased about was how clean this guest house was. Our towels and garbages were changed daily, and laundry facilities were easily accessible in the house. Whether it be a family vacation, couples stay, or business venture, this place will definitely exceed your expectations. My family and I are looking forward to the next time we go back!

   Business Trip Over Night
During a recent Business trip to Johannesburg i spend one night at Over the Moon Guest House. The setting against the 'Hill' in Northcliff was very peace full with breath taking views. The Rooms was amazing with huge bathrooms, i felt like royalty. The views from the Balconies of the Johannesburg skyline was amazing. I was pleasantly surprised that they have a conference facility as well. I hope to return for a extended stay. I recommend this venue for any traveller who is looking for a special experience.    Amazing views and great hospitality
My wife and I have been privileged to be some of the first guests to visit this brand new, beautiful guest house. We were spoiled with the most amazing views of the northern suburbs of Johannesburg, as well as beautiful, spacious rooms with all the exclusive amenities one can ask for. Elfreda and Brian are great hosts and very accommodating. I would definitely suggest this guest house to any traveller, be it the travelling business man, or just someone that would like to take great photos from their balconies of the beautiful city lights at night.
